The Cricket on the Hearth

The Cricket on the Hearth - Charles Dickens This book was a bit more difficult to get into than [b: A Christmas Carol|5326|A Christmas Carol|Charles Dickens||3097440] but once I had invested enough time to understand what was going on I found myself quite distressed by the characters' distress, and very pleased with the way the story turned out. One thing I would note is that, though it is listed as one of the Christmas books, so far as I could tell, the only indication that it may have been close to Christmas was the weather. There were two different parties, but both of which could have been due to other things, weddings, anniversaries, just a visit to a friend. I enjoyed the story and it's characters very much, but it would not necessarily need to be read only at Christmas.
